How I became a daily swimmer
About ten years ago, swimming was the last thing I wanted to learn, and I never liked jumping into a public swimming pool. I often saw people entering the pool without showering and without appropriate outfits, such as swim caps or swimsuits. Why are the pool instructions hung on the wall if they are not followed by the users? Around that time, I developed a terrible frozen shoulder on my left side. I felt discouraged and unable to use both arms freely, as if I was no longer a healthy, normal person. I had to do something. Then I discovered an aqua fitness class at the gym. I had to muster the courage to get into the water that I didn't like or want. Six months after I took a hydro fitness class, I was barely able to control my shoulder pain from frozen shoulder and began to practice swimming on my own by watching swim videos online. At the time, my goal was to swim longer distances with less effort. To make it more enjoyable and easier, I decided to use swim fins. The effect was very satisfying for me, as my body gradually gained flexibility and endurance from swimming with fins. I could swim for longer periods with less stress and without pain. This allowed me to increase my practice time from 10 laps to 20 laps, then to 30, 40, and eventually 50 laps of non-stop swimming with fins. So now I can tell you this: When you learn the flip turn, you can swim for over an hour without pausing, as I have done and still do every day. It is as easy as a slow, pleasant jog on a trail, chatting with a friend. You don't necessarily feel out of breath. The difference is that you swim like a fish in the water. Enjoy!
